Why are we doing Minecraft in school?

Picture
To create = we build what we want to build
To collaborate = teamwork, buddy up, help each other
To communicate = face-to-face & via chat within the game

When we build in Minecraft, we...
-imagine
-solve problems
-develop perseverance
-imagine, build, & rebuild
-become familiar with the keyboard
-foster interpersonal skills

-develop computer skills (we will incorporate research & toggling between online documents & Minecraft).
-recognize all of us as learners & teachers.  The students are teaching the teachers!

Can you believe it?  Students are demonstrating their learning by building in Minecraft!

Students in Ms. Chun's 3rd grade class researched landmarks, landforms and goods and services in specific states.  They re-created important landmarks in Minecraft and goods and services that might support those landmarks.  Next, they brainstormed a list of "rules" for learning in Minecraft and learned the game basics in our Minecraft Challenge.  Click here to see photos.
