As Mr. Miller read the book to his students, he thought the park sounded familiar. Then, he read the author's note in the back of the book and realized it was actually the park he visited!
The Elephant Nature Park rescues and takes care of elephants who have been treated badly. The park is in Thailand and is the home to elephants, dogs, buffaloes & many other animals.
When Mr. Miller visited, he could walk right up to the elephants and touch them. He noticed they cover themselves with mud & dirt to cool off. Mr. Miller shared his photos with us & gave me permission to post them here for you.
