"No one would believe me but at times I would choose wartime in Saigon over peacetime in Alabama." | I have heard from many of you that you LOVE this book! But this isn't really a "happy" book--Ha and her family face many challenges as they flee Vietnam. Look at the quote to the left. It's from the back cover of the book. Why does Ha say this? What does she miss about Saigon? What challenges does she face in Alabama? Post your first name & room number Answer the questions above Watch for your Nene Lunch Discussion Pass Wednesday morning! |

Maybe you've read a few chapters into your book. By this time, you have more than a first impression of your character. You might know how old he or she is, where they live, what they like and what they don't like. You also know how they fit into the story.
Based on what you know about your character, what do you think he/she carries with them at all times? What 3 things would you expect to find in their wallet or pocket? 1. Reply with your first name & room number. 2. Give the title of your book. 3. List 3 things you would expect to find in their wallet/pocekt and why? When you meet somebody for the first time, you make first impressions based on what they do, say or look like. Reading a book is the same--we have an idea of what the book is about by looking at the front cover or by reading the blurb on the back cover. As we read the first few pages, we get to know the characters, and plot.
What do you think of your Nene Book? 1. Give the title of your book. 2. Tell us your first impressions of the characters and the story. 3. Sign the blog post with your first name and room number. (no last names) |
